Puppet Shows at Valley of the Moon

Here’s a short clip of Wendy and Captain Hook interacting with one of their favorite fans.

We had so much fun volunteering our time and talents by entertaining the folks at Valley of the Moon this month on July 8, 9, 15 and 16.  Even though it was hot, our puppeteers Melissa Worland and Laura (my daughter and business partner) didn’t let the heat stop them from giving outstanding performances.

We were in the parking lot entertaining  both kids and adults who were waiting for their turn to see the main show, Peter Pan.

The puppets were performing their version of Peter Pan, which was quite interesting because the puppets had never seen Peter Pan.

Since I have quite an assortment of animal puppets from when I create a puppet pattern that we sell on our Etsy store, we decided to have animals play the parts of Wendy, Captain Hook, Peter Pan and Tinkerbell.

  • “Polly Platypus” was Wendy
  • “Alyson Alligator” was Captain Hook
  • “Ernie Elephant” was Peter Pan
  • “Hilary Hippo” was Tinkerbell

All characters were dressed in costumes to match their part. Quite a few people were tickled to see a platypus wearing a wig. I found the wig at a local thrift store. It’s actually from an old doll. From the looks of it, it had been separated from the doll quite a long time ago.
