In the last blog article we listed some Fun Facts about alligators. We also had a free download of an alligator coloring page for the kids (or you) to color. In this blog we want to share our favorite craft activities that we found on the web. Alligator crafts are so popular, it was hard to narrow the field. For crafting and puppet purposes, the alligator and crocodile can be interchangeable.
This footprint alligator is from Crafty Morning. I love the idea of adding the google eye – it adds so much expression!
This “snapping” alligator made from paper plates is a clever craft! Any self respecting alligator needs to have a snapping mouth and this craft delivers. We found this at Craftulate.
How cute is this clothespin alligator! And it is so simple to make. Playing with it to make the mouth open and close is great for manual dexterity too. Check it out at Sight and Sound Reading.
Have some spare paper lunch bags laying around? Then get ready to turn them into some alligator puppets. Use our free alligator paper bag puppet pattern designed by The Tucson Puppet Lady herself! It’s a great activity for the kids to color, cut out, glue and then play with.
Need a puppet with a moving mouth and makes expressions? We have the pattern!
And if you are really bitten by the craft bug, you can use our Alligator Puppet Sewing Pattern to make your own puppet. It is available as a digital download so you can start sewing immediately. We recommend using fleece and felt fabrics because they are inexpensive and readily available from craft stores. Customers tell us how easy our step by step patterns (with lots of pictures) are to follow especially after watching the video tutorials. In fact you can watch our free video tutorial on how to sew the alligator puppet right now!
NEXT BLOG FEATURES BOOKS AND FREE PUPPET PATTERN
In our next blog, we’ll be sharing a few books which feature the alligator that preschoolers (and older kids) enjoy. The books range from fact to fiction. We’ll also have a free pattern download for a felt alligator hand puppet. You don’t even have to know how to sew, the whole puppet can be made using a hot glue gun. Stay tuned to our blog to get your free download.
What our customers are saying:
“I love her patterns. Pattern well written and easy to follow.”
“I love how the puppet turned out. Please keep the patterns coming!”
