This blog is all about fun octopus craft ideas. We’ve got a free download of an octopus paper bag puppet for the kids to make. Another quick craft is to download the free octopus coloring page from a previous octopus blog. After coloring the octopus, cut it out and paste it to a craft stick to make a stick puppet!
Here are just a few of our favorite octopus craft activities that we found on the web that are simple and fun to do. We also have a paper bag puppet template to download, color, cut out and paste to a paper bag. It was specifically designed to use only one sheet of paper so that it is cost effective for groups of kids.
This fast and cute craft is also great for little finger motor skills. It’s a cupcake liner octopus with o-ring cereal as suckers and is from I Heart Crafty Things.
What a genius idea to use bubble wrap as the arms for this paper plate octopus. And the leftover bubble wrap can always be popped. Another winner from Artsy Craftsy Mom.
I just had to include this fleece octopus because it is so cute, easy and could be made with leftover fleece after making an octopus using my Octopus Hand Puppet sewing pattern. The instructions from While She Naps uses a foam ball for the head. Using polyfil left over from making a puppet using my pattern would make the octopus even more cuddly.
Have some spare paper lunch bags laying around? Then get ready to turn them into some octopus puppets. Use our free octopus paper bag puppet pattern designed by The Tucson Puppet Lady herself! It’s a great activity for the kids to color, cut out, glue and then play with.
Need a puppet with a moving mouth and makes expressions? We’ve got the pattern!
And if you are really bitten by the craft bug, you can use our Octopus Puppet Sewing Pattern to make your own puppet. It is available as a digital download so you can start sewing immediately. We recommend using fleece and felt fabrics because they are inexpensive and readily available from craft stores. Customers tell us how easy our step by step patterns (with lots of pictures) are to follow especially after watching the video tutorials. In fact you can watch our free video tutorial on how to sew the donkey puppet right now!
What our customers are saying:
“I love her patterns. Pattern well written and easy to follow.”
“I love how the puppet turned out. Please keep the patterns coming!”
NEXT BLOG FEATURES BOOKS AND FREE PUPPET PATTERN
In our next octopus blog, we’ll be sharing a few books which feature octopuses that preschoolers (and older kids) enjoy. The books range from fact to fiction. We’ll also have a free pattern download to make an octopus hand puppet out of felt. You don’t even have to know how to sew, the whole puppet can be made using a hot glue gun. Stay tuned to our blog to get your free download.
