Chicken Craft Activities

In the last blog article we listed some Fun Facts about chickens.  We also had a free download of a chicken coloring page for the kids (or you) to color.  In this blog we want to share some of our favorite craft activities that we found on the web that are simple and fun to do.  There was so much to choose from – it was hard to make a decision!

This is a cute paper plate craft using yellow plates, feathers and googly eyes.  I love the legs!  We found this at Housing A Forest site.

This paper mache craft is for older kids – around 8 years – plus they will need help from someone older.  But the finished product is worth the work.  This chicken is too cute! This is from DLTK Crafts for Kids.

Red Ted Art Cute and Easy Crafts for Kids had this adorable yarn lacing craft.  This is perfect for developing fine motor skills!

This craft is unusual because it features the rooster.  Most crafts are for hens and chicks.  You can either print out a black and white version or the already colored version.  We found this at DLT Crafts for Kids.

Have some spare paper lunch bags laying around? Then get ready to turn them into some chicken puppets. Use our free chicken paper bag puppet pattern designed by The Tucson Puppet Lady herself!  It’s a great activity for the kids to color, cut out, glue and then play with.

Need a puppet with a moving mouth and makes expressions?  We’ve got the pattern!

And if you are really bitten by the craft bug, you can use our Chicken Puppet Sewing Pattern to make your own puppet. It is available as a digital download so you can start sewing immediately. We recommend using fleece and felt fabrics because they are inexpensive and readily available from craft stores. Customers tell us how easy our step by step patterns (with lots of pictures) are to follow especially after watching the video tutorials.  In fact you can watch our free video tutorial on how to sew the chicken puppet right now!

what our customers are saying:

“I love her patterns.  Pattern well written and easy to follow.”

“I love how the puppet turned out.  Please keep the patterns coming!”

NEXT BLOG FEATURES BOOKS AND FREE PUPPET PATTERN

In our next blog, we’ll be sharing a few books which feature chickens that preschoolers (and older kids) enjoy. The books range from fact to fiction. We’ll also have a free pattern download for a felt chicken hand puppet. You don’t even have to know how to sew, the whole puppet can be made using a hot glue gun. Stay tuned to our blog to get your free download.
