Elephant Craft Activities

In the last blog article we listed some Fun Facts about elephants.  We also had a free download of a elephant coloring page for the kids (or you) to color.  In this blog we want to share some of our favorite craft activities that we found on the web that are simple and fun to do.  There was so much to choose from – it was hard to make a decision!

This paper plate craft from Crafty Morning is so cute!  I love the eyelashes!

I usually pick easier crafts especially for little ones, but this bookmark is so creative, beautiful and different that I had to include it.  This is perfect for older kids to make.  Maybe as a gift for a younger child who loves to read and elephants?  If water color pencils are used, younger kids could use a paint brush with only water to blend the colors.   Found this at Artsy Craftsy Mom.

I Heart Crafty Things always has the cutest crafts!  I love the idea of recycling a cereal box into a standing elephant.

Even those of us who think we are sculpture deficient can make this elephant!  It is just different size balls and a snake shape.  This clay craft is from Parents.

Have some spare paper lunch bags laying around? Then get ready to turn them into some elephant puppets. Use our free elephant paper bag puppet pattern designed by The Tucson Puppet Lady herself!  It’s a great activity for the kids to color, cut out, glue and then play with.

Need a puppet with a moving mouth and makes expressions?  We’ve got the pattern!

And if you are really bitten by the craft bug, you can use our Elephant Puppet Sewing Pattern to make your own puppet. It is available as a digital download so you can start sewing immediately. We recommend using fleece and felt fabrics because they are inexpensive and readily available from craft stores. Customers tell us how easy our step by step patterns (with lots of pictures) are to follow especially after watching the video tutorials.  In fact you can watch our free video tutorial on how to sew the elephant puppet right now!

what our customers are saying:

“I love her patterns.  Pattern well written and easy to follow.”

“I love how the puppet turned out.  Please keep the patterns coming!”

NEXT BLOG FEATURES BOOKS AND FREE PUPPET PATTERN

In our next blog, we’ll be sharing a few books which feature elephants that preschoolers (and older kids) enjoy. The books range from fact to fiction. We’ll also have a free pattern download for a felt elephant hand puppet. You don’t even have to know how to sew, the whole puppet can be made using a hot glue gun. Stay tuned to our blog to get your free download.
