Elephant Fun Facts

Our pattern of the month is the Elephant!  It is true that an elephant has a good memory.  They can remember something for 50-60 years!  They also can remember where the herd found food and water in the past.  They are doing better than me, some days I can’t find my car keys!

  • Elephants are the largest land mammal
  • Elephants only need about 4 hours sleep
  • Elephant families are led by females
  • Elephants do have feelings – they mourn the loss of a family member
  • The elephant’s brain is similar to a human in terms of structure and complexity
