The puppet sewing pattern of the month is the flamingo. To celebrate we have a FREE coloring page you can download.
We didn’t set out to create a flamingo puppet pattern but a customer requested one. We are so happy that we did make a pattern. The flamingo is a beautiful bird and the puppet made from our pattern is just adorable! We’ve used the puppet in puppet shows and it is always a hit with the audience (kids and adults)!
The word ‘flamingo’ comes from the Spanish word ‘flamenco’ which means fire and refers to the bright pink or orange color of the feathers
- The bright colors in the feathers comes from the food they eat.
- The backward bending of their “knee” is actually an ankle. The knee is hidden by the feathers.
- A female flamingo lays only one egg a year.
- A flamingo can fly up to 35 miles an hour.
- Flamingos are about 4-5 feet high and weigh only 4-8 pounds.
