Pig Fun Facts

Our pattern of the month is the Pig! No barnyard assortment of puppets would be complete without the pig. And who could forget the fable of The Three Pigs and the Big Bad Wolf? And no children’s book library would be complete without the Elephant and Piggy series by Mo Willems. In our upcoming blog article about books featuring pigs we’ll share our favorite book in that series.

Alligator Fun Facts

Our Alligator Puppet Sewing Pattern is the pattern of the month! Even though real alligators are quite ferocious looking with all of those teeth, kids love alligators and alligators are featured prominently in children’s books, finger plays and songs.  Even though our puppet pattern is called an alligator, it could be used as a crocodile.  The main difference between the two reptiles in real life is that the alligator’s mouth is more U shaped at the end.  The end of the crocodile’s mouth is more V shaped.  In puppet land, I don’t think it makes much difference.

Penguin Fun Facts

Our Penguin Puppet Sewing Pattern is the pattern of the month!  There is something about penguins that make them so cute.  Maybe it’s because they are continuously dressed in a “tuxedo.”  The purpose of that tuxedo is for camouflage. From above, its black back blends into the murky depths of the ocean. From below, its white belly is hidden against the bright surface.

Flamingo Fun Facts

The puppet sewing pattern of the month is the flamingo.  To celebrate we have a FREE coloring page you can download.

We didn’t set out to create a flamingo puppet pattern but a customer requested one. We are so happy that we did make a pattern. The flamingo is a beautiful bird and the puppet made from our pattern is just adorable!   We’ve used the puppet in puppet shows and it is always a hit with the audience (kids and adults)!

Platypus Fun Facts

The puppet sewing pattern of the month is the…..platypus!  To celebrate we have a FREE coloring page you can download.

You are wondering, why the platypus?    It has come to our attention that the more unusual animals are making their way into children’s books.  Animals like….platypus, wombat, sloth, to name a few, are now being featured as characters in kids’ books and other media.  As an example, Perry the Platypus is a character from the popular Phineas and Ferb show.
