This blog is all about fun parrot craft ideas. We’ve got a free download of a parrot paper bag puppet for the kids to make. Another quick craft is to download the free parrot coloring page from a previous parrot blog. After coloring the parrot, cut it out and paste it to a craft stick to make a stick puppet!
Here are just a few of our favorite parrot craft activities that we found on the web that are simple and fun to do. We also have a paper bag puppet template to download, color, cut out and paste to a paper bag. It was specifically designed to use only one sheet of paper so that it is cost effective for groups of kids.
Paper plate parrot from Preschool Play and Learn uses two paper plates, tempura paint (or even crayons) and tissue paper.
The kids will have so much fun playing with colors while making this hand print parrot. This Pretty Parrot is from Tippytoe Crafts.
What a clever idea to use paper cups as a base for a parrot! I also like the addition of colored yarn to give some texture. Great craft from I Heart Crafty Things.
Have some spare paper lunch bags laying around? Then get ready to turn them into some parrot puppets. Use our free parrot paper bag puppet pattern designed by The Tucson Puppet Lady herself! It’s a great activity for the kids to color, cut out, glue and then play with.
Need a puppet with a moving mouth and makes expressions? We’ve got the pattern!
And if you are really bitten by the craft bug, you can use our Parrot Puppet Sewing Pattern to make your own puppet. It is available as a digital download so you can start sewing immediately. We recommend using fleece and felt fabrics because they are inexpensive and readily available from craft stores. Customers tell us how easy our step by step patterns (with lots of pictures) are to follow especially after watching the video tutorials. In fact you can watch our free video tutorial on how to sew the parrot puppet right now!
What our customers are saying:
“I love her patterns. Pattern well written and easy to follow.”
“I love how the puppet turned out. Please keep the patterns coming!”
NEXT BLOG FEATURES BOOKS AND FREE PUPPET PATTERN
In our next parrot blog, we’ll be sharing a few books which feature parrots that preschoolers (and older kids) enjoy. The books range from fact to fiction. We’ll also have a free pattern download to make a parrot hand puppet out of felt. You don’t even have to know how to sew, the whole puppet can be made using a hot glue gun. Stay tuned to our blog to get your free download.
