Duck Craft Activities

In the last blog article we listed some Fun Facts about ducks.  We also had a free download of a duck coloring page for the kids (or you) to color.  In this blog we want to share some of our favorite craft activities that we found on the web that are simple and fun to do.  There was so much to choose from – it was hard to make a decision!

This Shape Duck Craft is perfect for little ones.  The craft is simple and helps to teach shapes.  Adding googly eyes always makes crafts more fun!  There is a downloadable template if needed to help cut out shapes.  We found this at All Kids Network.

Sophie’s Nursery had this wonderful Shapes and Colours Duck craft in addition to other great preschool activities.  For inspiration for other activities be sure to visit the site.

I think this craft is so adorable!  But there was no working link attached.  I usually don’t list a craft unless there are instructions but I liked this so much I had to include it.  It looks simple, color a paper plate blue for water (a 2 year old could do this), glue a cut out duck (the duck could be painted or crayoned) on a popsicle stick, cut a slit in the paper plate and we have a swimming duck!

For the artistically challenged, here is a template of free duck patterns to use for the above craft!   We found this at Make Learning Fun.  You could print out a bunch of them to create an activity to go with “Five Little Ducks.”

Have some spare paper lunch bags laying around? Then get ready to turn them into some duck puppets. Use our free duck paper bag puppet pattern designed by The Tucson Puppet Lady herself!  It’s a great activity for the kids to color, cut out, glue and then play with.

Need a puppet with a moving mouth and makes expressions?  We’ve got the pattern!

And if you are really bitten by the craft bug, you can use our Duck Puppet Sewing Pattern to make your own puppet. It is available as a digital download so you can start sewing immediately. We recommend using fleece and felt fabrics because they are inexpensive and readily available from craft stores. Customers tell us how easy our step by step patterns (with lots of pictures) are to follow especially after watching the video tutorials.  In fact you can watch our free video tutorial on how to sew the duck puppet right now!

what our customers are saying:

“I love her patterns.  Pattern well written and easy to follow.”

“I love how the puppet turned out.  Please keep the patterns coming!”

NEXT BLOG FEATURES BOOKS AND FREE PUPPET PATTERN

In our next blog, we’ll be sharing a few books which feature ducks that preschoolers (and older kids) enjoy. The books range from fact to fiction. We’ll also have a free pattern download for a free duck hand puppet. You don’t even have to know how to sew, the whole puppet can be made using a hot glue gun. Stay tuned to our blog to get your free download.
