You are wondering, why the platypus? It has come to our attention that the more unusual animals are making their way into children’s books. Animals like….platypus, wombat, sloth, to name a few, are now being featured as characters in kids’ books and other media. As an example, Perry the Platypus is a character from the popular Phineas and Ferb show.
Due to circumstances beyond our control, The Tucson Puppet Lady is on permanent hiatus for all services offered in the Tucson area. This includes puppet shows, puppet making workshops and one on one instruction.

We love it when a customer adapts one of our animal puppet patterns to create what they want. Maureen used our horse pattern and adapted it to give the horse a blaze and chest markings. She looped the strips of fabric for the mane and forelock, giving it a 3 dimensional look. She left off the legs. The eyes are flatter with larger pupils than what is on the pattern. These changes give the puppet a whole new look which is just adorable!
We are working on creating step by step tutorials of how to sew all of our animal puppet patterns. Next out of the editing booth is the flamingo!

I’ve owned and used my Singer 328K sewing machine since my mother bought it for me in the 1960’s. Over the years I’ve used it to sew just about everything. Now it’s my main sewing machine for designing and making my puppets.

My second sewing machine is a White Model 1755. I received it from a friend and think it’s from the 1990’s, but trying to find information for it online is a bit of a challenge. I rarely use it, since I prefer my ancient Singer.
