In the last blog article we listed some Fun Facts about pigs. We also had a free download of a pig coloring page for the kids (or you) to color. In this blog we want to share some of our favorite craft activities that we found on the web that are simple and fun to do. There was so much to choose from – it was hard to make a decision!
Pig Fun Facts
Our pattern of the month is the Pig! No barnyard assortment of puppets would be complete without the pig. And who could forget the fable of The Three Pigs and the Big Bad Wolf? And no children’s book library would be complete without the Elephant and Piggy series by Mo Willems. In our upcoming blog article about books featuring pigs we’ll share our favorite book in that series.
Triceratops Craft Activities
In the last blog article we listed some Fun Facts about triceratops. We also had a free download of an triceratops coloring page for the kids (or you) to color. In this blog we want to share our favorite craft activities that we found on the web that are simple and fun to do.
Triceratops Fun Facts
Our pattern of the month is the Triceratops! Kids have always been fascinated by dinosaurs. In the preschool crowd that I run with it seems that T-rex is the most popular and then the triceratops. This month we are featuring the triceratops. We’ll feature the T-rex in a later month.
Alligator Craft Activities
In the last blog article we listed some Fun Facts about alligators. We also had a free download of an alligator coloring page for the kids (or you) to color. In this blog we want to share our favorite craft activities that we found on the web. Alligator crafts are so popular, it was hard to narrow the field. For crafting and puppet purposes, the alligator and crocodile can be interchangeable.
Alligator Fun Facts
Our Alligator Puppet Sewing Pattern is the pattern of the month! Even though real alligators are quite ferocious looking with all of those teeth, kids love alligators and alligators are featured prominently in children’s books, finger plays and songs. Even though our puppet pattern is called an alligator, it could be used as a crocodile. The main difference between the two reptiles in real life is that the alligator’s mouth is more U shaped at the end. The end of the crocodile’s mouth is more V shaped. In puppet land, I don’t think it makes much difference.
Hippos in Books
In our previous blog article we listed a few links to craft projects featuring hippos that we found around the web. We also had a free download of hippo paper bag puppet pattern.
We are continuing the hippo theme with a list of books that we thought would be interesting and fun to pair with a sloth puppet. We’ve noticed that kids become more engaged during reading when a puppet is used to help bring a book alive.
Hippo Fun Facts
Our Hippo Puppet Sewing Pattern is the pattern of the month! The hippo is the largest land animal after the elephant and white rhino. Its closest relatives are the whales and porpoises. Even though they are related to aquatic mammals, they can’t swim or float! They stand and walk on sandbanks underneath the water.
Sloth Craft Activities
In the last blog article we listed some Fun Facts about sloths. We also had a free download of a sloth coloring page for the kids (or you) to color. In this blog we want to share our favorite craft activities that we found on the web. We had so much fun looking for sloth craft activities!
Sloth Fun Facts
Time to celebrate sloths as our pattern of the month! We noticed that sloths are “in” so we went to work and created our Sloth Puppet Sewing Pattern. We’ve gotten a lot of “oooohs” and “ahhhhhs” in response to how cute this puppet is.
